We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the interdisciplinary investigation of prehistoric people, past environments, and the interactions of people and landscapes.  We are located in central Pennsylvania and conduct research in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions.  Our goals are research and education, providing information to the general public and offering students the opportunity to gain practical field and laboratory experience.

The members of AXIS Research, Inc. are professionals in archaeology, pedology, and geology with particular interests in spatial analysis and mapping, soil genesis and morphology, landscape and environmental reconstruction, lithic analysis, laboratory analysis of soils and sediments, GIS, rockshelters, prehistoric and historic archaeology of North America, eolian and alluvial sequences, and education and outreach.
